Guinness World Records Books -- totally awesome November 11, 2008 I love the guinness books. I have a large number of them. I seriously started collecting these books back in 1997. Ever since then, I've avidly added to my library each volume annually.
The Guinness Books are part of what I call my triple crown. This consists of the Guinness Book, Old Farmer's Almanac and The World Almanac. Each year, I look to complete my triple crown, and usually do.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that all of my Guinness Books are hardcover.
Paperback edition 2008 August 23, 2008 This book is not as good as the hardcover, but it does cover all the records, as far as I can see. It is great for my 8-year-old son. I would recommend the Hardcover edition for easier reading.
Unique July 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Guinness World Records is unique in that it was the first to certify all kinds of weird records. For example, Fastest Banana Eater. All the records are certified. Some records are continually broken. This book is the inspiration for the eating contests like the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating which is held every year on July 4th. Then there are records like the oldest verified human being. Sorry not Methusula. This book is published in many forms. I've owned many. Like the Almanac it's updated every year. This version is the 2008 Paperback Version. Small and compact but somewhat dificult to read but as far as I can tell all the records are included. If you want the hard copy or coffee table editions you'll have easier reading but will have to probably pay at least double the price.
The one-star review is dumb July 4, 2008 The two books aren't the same - and if the reviewer was expecting the same, he's nuts. This is the thick paperback that lists thousands of records. The glossy hardcover is the coffee-table version that lists far fewer records. One isn't a duplicate of the other - they are entirely separate books. If you're into this kind of book, then this is the Guinness paperback you expect.
Horrible balck and white poor reproduction..... June 26, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
....of an absolutely gorgeous book in hardback. Such a cheap insult to the original I threw it in the bin.
